The Bedford Swan hotel is a stylish, boutique hotel in the heart of Bedfordshire. The hotel hosts a range of activities from weddings, to afternoon tea and even a relaxing thermal spa for guests to truly unwind and escape.  

As a beautifully decorated hotel, they needed to ensure their exterior remained as inviting as their interior. That’s why we helped them in creating an alfresco dining setting that was perfect for every weather condition and functional throughout the evening.   

To achieve this, we installed a fully retractable fabric roof system enclosed with a combination of motorized guillotine glass windows and doors. The retractable roof pergola is positioned at an angle to help with water drainage, whilst also adding visual appeal. This allows customers to relax in a comfortable outdoor dining setting that offers protection from the elements. The guillotine glass systems also provide further shelter from wind, rain and cold, creating an outdoor room.   

To ensure the retractable fabric roof was practical both during the day and night, we also integrated LED lighting systems onto the roof of the pergola. This helped to create an element of ambience in the colder evenings, allowing guests to socialise outside even when the sun goes down.
