Designer Shade Solutions recently completed an outdoor transformation at the Sea Lane Cafe, located along the coast and exposed to the elements. The goal was to create a protected, year-round space for diners to enjoy the seafront views in comfort, no matter the weather. 

To meet these needs, we installed the DSS Juniper Freestanding Sloped Retractable Roof System. This solution was ideal for the site’s open setting, offering a durable and self-supporting structure that maintains an open, modern feel. The sloped design allows for efficient water drainage, and the roof retracts smoothly at the touch of a button, letting staff and guests adapt the space quickly depending on the conditions. 

Thanks to this installation, the cafe now has a flexible indoor-outdoor area that blends with its existing structure while extending its seating capacity. The lighting built into the system ensures that the space remains usable and welcoming into the evening hours. 

The Sea Lane Cafe team was especially pleased with how the roof system matched the building’s contemporary look and how it added long-term value to the business by increasing all-weather usability.
